    Maximum Control

I bought this to start use of a 2nd monitor, to free up my desk space and to stop the hunching I was doing with a monitor on a low pedastal.

It did all of this wonderfully. The articulating arms and design allows me universal control of both monitors as to height, angle and tilt.

I bought a 2nd one for home. Worth the extra money and very well made.

rated weight is higher than it holds..

My first disappointment is that it only comes with a 100×100 VESA mount, and that they wanted another $40 each for adapters that converted 100×200 mounts I had on my monitor, ouch. Amazon had the Sanus ones for $20 each. Which still adds $40 to the price of this. It also doesn’t hold monitors that hit close to their rated weight limit. It’s rated at 20lbs, my monitors are 19lbs, and it won’t hold them, it sags and tilts forward. The one spot where you can tighten the tension only holds up the arm, but there’s a tilt that is just spring loaded and that isn’t strong enough.

    I’m hoping i can find a replacement.

    Fantastic product but…

This is a fantastic product, but when assembling everything, I noticed that my base piece was significantly shorter than those shown in pictures, the product manual, and videos online. I followed this up by contacting Ergotron and they responded by saying that they have replaced the base piece which a newer, shorter piece.

They also mentioned that they chose it wasn’t vital enough to warrant a change in the product number because it “doesn’t affect the function of the arm.” From my estimation (after installation), this lowers your monitors by several inches such that the bottom of my 24 inch LCD is about 5-6 inches below eye height despite being elevated as high as the arm will go (not optimal).

Ergotron also says that a supply of ancient-style (right height) bases are no longer in their stock. I feel somewhat like a victim of fake-advertising by this altercation to the design since all of the advertising shows the monitors being much higher than they are when the new unit is assembled.

Fantastic piece of hardware. Very sturdy and well thought out. Prepare to take a while to setup this stand and check the lengths of your existing cabling. Very granular adjustments to for position and monitor weight.

Thought it was a small pricey, but the quality is there.

    I Am Impressed

On rare occassions, a product I have bought completely exceeds my expectations. This is one of those rare occasions.

I received my dual-monitor side-by-side LX stand yesterday and upon opening the box, I knew this was a top-quality product. Each of the individual components is expertly machined and finished with a highly durable flat black paint. The fit and tolerances of the various components are tight and uniform and you can tell that quality control is of major importance to this manufacturer. Even the subtle Ergotron logo on the base is crisply printed onto the end in a non-scratch durable white paint. I am not exaggerating when I say that the machining and fit of the various parts of this stand are similar to expensive pieces of photography equipment I own (like a tripod ball head that cost three times as much as this desk stand).

In terms of functionality, the product performs exactly as advertised. Mine is supporting two LG W2343T 24.3″ widescreen LCD’s. You go the LCD’s where you want them and they stay there. I installed this yesterday and so far, the default tension settings appear to be working just fine. But, the product includes several tension adjustments which would allow anyone to get their setup just-right for whatever their preferences and/or equipment happens to be. Due to the high mass of the Ergotron stand, vibrations are damped out and the monitors don’t go around alot even if I bump into my desk. I am using the “grommet” mounting method which provides an exceptionally stable platform. But the edge-clamp method looks like it would be equally stable. The mounting bolt used for the grommet method is a small long for my tastes, but if you want to have less of it sticking out beneath your desk surface, you can easily shorten the extra length by getting a few appropriately sized metric nuts and lock washers at your local hardware store (about $1.20) and securing the bolt in its mounting plate at whatever length you choose. The excess length fits neatly up inside the main support pole on the base, and you then have the option of going back to a longer length if you ever choose to mount this brilliant stand on a thicker surface in the future.

The built-in cable management system works well, and gives the fully-installed setup a clean and organized appearance. It also allows for free rotation of the attached monitors from landscpae to portrait mode without the cables getting in the way.

I am very pleased with this product and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to securely mount their monitors but still have the ability to adjust them and place them in a wide range of configurations quickly and with nearly no physical effort.

This product is awesome. Works just like it’s described. Uses minimal strength to go your monitors to the desired position.
