Brilliant monitor positioning, even with heavy 24 inch monitor
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars

I’ve been working on cleaning up my home office for the past year (yeah, it hasn’t been going very quickly) but I finally got to the point of cleaning up my desktop which is a pretty large 6′x3′ pedestal desk bought at Price Club (pre-Costco) many years ago.

Between my 24″ Dell monitor, my HP docking station and laptop, there wasn’t much room left on the desk. So I wanted to get both the docking station and monitor off the desk. I poked around at a number of options from different vendors (including looking at some printer stands for the docking station).

I finished up going with the Ergotron LX because of the functionality and the fantastic feedback that I’ve seen pretty much everywhere.

Since my monitor is pretty large (24″ and 15 lbs), I chose to go with two individual arms rather than using one of the dual arm setups.

Ordered my stuff from Amazon and got it the next day (Amazon Prime rocks!). Setup my monitor in the middle of the computer and got it all hooked up. Had to tighten the tension on both the arm (raise/lower) and the head (tilt) so that the monitor would stay where I wanted it to while still alowing simple movement. Took about 15 minutes to get it all setup. My only complaint would be that the cable management system is OK for one or two cables, but with my DVI and power cable in there, it was hard to squeeze in a usb cable up to the built-in USB hub. Very minor nit.

The laptop setup was a bit more complicated. The combined depth of my docking station & laptop (when docked) is a tad over 17″ — which is too long to completely fit on the notebook pad, so I finished up positioning the dock such that the rear hung about 1.5″ over the edge of the pad. I used the included three heavy duty velcro strips (male & female) to mount the docking station and this seemed to hold it pretty well, even with the 1.5″ overhang. I added some fishing line around the pad/dock under where the computer will sit to add some leverage to holding the dock to the pad — I don’t reckon that was really necessary, but I don’t mind a bit of over engineering.

With the laptop mounted, it took a whole lot of tightening of the tension to get the laptop to stay where I wanted it to. In fact the tilt tension screw had to be pretty much locked down (very tightly) before the laptop would stop tilting.

Now I have a nice organized desk with lots of space where I can go the monitor back/forth as necessary (if I want to lay back and relax while watching a webcast, I can pull the monitor out over the keyboard, pop my feet up on the side of the desk and relax). The one thing

to watch out is that if you’ve recovered space where your ancient monitor stand used to sit (like I did) you should be careful to raise the monitor up before you go it backwards or you may end up pushing lots of stuff off the back of the desk.

    Very pleased customer.

    Brilliant Buy Choice!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve been using my Ergotron monitor arm for just about a year now and it does an brilliant job of holding up my 22 inch LG Flatron L22WTG show! I cannot imagine going back to using a monitor without an arm like this one.

Setup was a bit complicated as the included instructions are confusing but after some study I got everything setup without any problems. The included tools to tighten the tension is a must and requires a bit of trial and error to get just right. But, once I got that part set I’ve not had to readjust the tension on the arm in a year. That there says a lot about the quality of this product!

The range, and ease, of motion is outstanding! I’m constantly moving the arm and show around for various reasons. My desktop computer does double duty serving as a traditional desktop work and gaming station as well as my HDTV and DVR via the attached tuner. There are times when I’ll swing the show over so I can watch TV or movies from the couch or swing it the other way to watch TV while cooking in the kitchen. The ease with which I can adjust the distance the show is from me eases eye strain on those occasions when I’m doing a lot of work at the desk.

I cannot state enough just what an brilliant product this is and I’m already plotting to buy from this company again when I get a new iMac in a few months!

Fantastic stand, wish I bought much earlier
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This mount is brilliant – simple to assemble, sturdy in operation, reasonably priced and has a fantastic range of motion. I mounted a 26″ Asus monitor which was well above suggested size limit, but under the weight limit. The stand hold the monitor perfectly and allows me to go this beast of a monitor around my desk (or even over the edge of it) with ease.

I can’t beleive I wasted so many years fiddling with OEM/included monitor stands when this product was available. From now on every new monitor in my house will be VESA mount capable and mounted on an Ergotron mount

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Excellent quality and simple to setup. I have mine holding a 26 monitor no problem. Perfect for office interactions where you want to go the monitor a lot to show staff. I have this monitor on the stand as my main monitor and use my laptop screen as backup screen. In small, simple, simple rugged, and cheap.

I use this for my Dell 24″ and it works fantastic. Quite stable and excellent reach. I sit in a bone idle boy and can get the screen easily close enough to use it without strain.

Looks more hard to set up than it is.

I would buy this product again.

I had been looking for a way to raise my monitor on my desk because my computer chair is just a small too low at the highest setting and thought instead of going out to buy a new computer chair I would try to to find something to raise my monitor. I first bought one of those metal computer stands from the local office supple store and while it served it’s purpose their was no adjustment and the monitor finished up being too high on the stand. I bought this after reading some reviews on the net and I am glad I did.

The first thing you will notice when you unpack the box is how sturdy and well made this product really feels. The parts are heavy and firm for any desk. The only problem that I had was not with mount but with my desk. I have a desk that has a ledge in the back that comes down pretty low behind the desk and was having distress getting the mount holding firmly on the desk with the plate that is attached to the monitor arm. I used another piece in the kit that fit under my desk perfect and that solved that problem. I have my 23 inch monitor on the arm and at first the monitor would not hold in place and would swoop down if I went the arm up too high. After going to the web site of the manufacture I looked at the instructions and found out their is a screw in side the arm where you can tighten or loosen the tension with a wrench that comes in the kit. Problem fixed!! This kit has everything you need is very simple to set up. You will like all the ways you can go your monitor. Now I can go my monitor close up or just go it the left or right out of the way. Your monitor nearly looks like it is floating!!! The fantastic thing about this mount is how it will eliminate the terrible habits we have when we set at our computer desks and stretch our neck to see out monitor or slouch our shoulders getting up close.

Highly recommended!!! Go get one today!

All I could hope for in show ergonomics
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I would buy this again. In fact, I will. I have other desks and other monitors that will benefit from the simple ergonomics of this show support arm.

The VESA-standard attachment plates allow me to utilize this support arm with many LCD/flat-panel displays (one at a time, of course). It has many methods of affixing the base to a variety of desks/tables, and the screw-tightened weight adjustment ensures my show stays right where I want it.

My favorite feature is the range of motion in the multi-joint arm itself. As I change my position at my workstation through the day, the arm lets me keep the show at the right height and the right distance.

I currently use the arm with a 1/2″-thick wood desk and a widescreen 24″ LCD show from a major US computer manufacturer.

I had never bought an “aftermarket” monitor arm/stand until this Ergotron LX. I am very pleased with it. It’s extremely sturdy and is highly maneuverable. I’ve already bought two, and another one may find its way to my front door soon enough.

If you’ve always used the stand that is “built into” your monitors, you don’t know what you’re missing!

Fantastic Quality, better than the last arm that i had which is still sitting in my closet. this one is simple to go where you want it and it will stay there. Plus it hold the monitor (23″) without slowly dropping on you. like my last one did, This also can be extended where my last one was one size fits all. I get my comfy chair to work in too. I cant complain about that.

    Very Excellent Buy
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This product was very simple to install and worked very well. I did have to adjust the tension to support my monitor, but this was not complex and the tool was included to do this. I bought this to clear up my desk space and because the cheaper dell monitors no longer have adjustable stands. Even though it’s expensive, it’s worth it.

    Very Solid and Simple Adjustment
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Exactly what we were looking for. I was considering a knock off but am really glad I spent the extra money for this arm. It is super solid and after adjusting the tension allows the monitor to go around and rotate portrait to landscape without loosening or tightening anything. Securely holds a 24″ dell monitor and clamps to a 3/4 inch thick desk. Will buy from ergotron again if I need more LCD mounts.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This monitor support is perfectly made and a real life saver! Are you sitting straight and keeping your chin up? Buy it! Comes with hardware to clamp onto side of the desk, or to fasten through a hole. Also includes screws to attach the monitor.

    Value for the price
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I use it for a 23″ flat screen and it works fabulously! I was skeptical at first because it seemed too cheap(compared to similar items I priced), but I’m glad I took the plunge! I’ve had it for over a month (mounted to the side of my desk. Every once in a while I check the knobs to ensure everything is tight (just to be safe)but no problems so far. I needed an arm to ensure the monitor sat in an ergonomic position. It moves in height, rotation and angle. This product exceeds my expectations and the price is phenominal. My only precaution (no fault of the product) check the monitor mount (my 2nd monitor sits on a stand with no mounting area on the back), bummer. There’s likely a way around this, but I’m not the ‘handy’ type. 2 Thumbs Up!

  15. Jonas Bendsen says:

    Fantastic Monitor Arm
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Pros: Holds my 24″ Dell 2407WFP with ease. I’ve got it mounted to an Omnirax Commander workstation and there is only minimal screen bounce when I have it fully extended towards me and I start banging pretty [...] the keyboard (more a fault of the desk/workstation, not the arm).

I also like how simple it is to rotate the monitor into portrait. This is a FANTASTIC feature.

I adjusted the tension screw for the weight of my monitor, and was surprised when it really stayed place. I was really dubious of the arm’s ability to stay where you place it with a 24″ monitor mounted, but it works fantastically.

I will be purchasing more of these for my two other 20″ monitors in the very near future.

Cons: Cable management on the section mounted to the post is pretty much worthless. Once you’ve got a DVI cable or a mildly thick power cable in there, there’s no room for anything else. There’s just barely room for a DVI and power cable on the first section (with no hope for USB in addition to power and DVI). A USB cable seems like the ONLY thing you could really get into the second section. No huge deal; just spend a couple bucks on some cable ties.

Also, you might want to reckon about a 15ft. DVI cable and an extra long power cord if you plot on running your cables along the arm. That’s what I’ve got, and I can’t imagine having anything shorter.

I was also a small worried by the shiny plastic on the sides of the first arm. It’s just a shell (part of the “cable management”), but it makes you worry that the thing will be flimsy when you pull it out of the box (don’t worry –it’s not). The other parts are all nice, solid, matte-finished metal.

    Awesome arm with outstanding quality
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this to support a Dell 24″ monitor to my left. I have a 27″ Dell in the center and a 20″ Dell on the right. This is without a doubt a quality piece of engineering. It took (5) minutes to set up and you are ready to go. Even comes with all of the hardware and tools required.

As the previous reviewer said, the arm shipped with two different mounting systems. One, a heavy duty desk-edge clamp, would probably have worked fine, but I opted to use the other one – a 5/16″ bolt passing through a hole drilled in the desktop. Using the bolt allows the screen to be went to any position without worrying about the clamp coming loose. The heavy duty arm has no problem with the weight. I probably could mount a much larger monitor without a problem! If you are on the fence….I highly recommend this product.

  17. Matthew Lambie says:

    Exactly what I needed
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The product is as solid as I could have hoped for. The metal components are very heavy and well constructed. The plastic feels solid and reliable. The flexible plastic does not feel like it’s going to break when being bent. The adjustable spring tension meant even my heavy 24″ Dell LCD was supported without any issues.

The spacing for the cables is tight when you have power and video, but they both fit snugly, keeping the desk clear of cable-clutter.

The instructions are simple to follow and come in a large variety of languages. All the necessary components were included, including a plate for larger monitors. The monitor arm was very simple to assemble.

Certainly a recommended buy – I’ll only buy these monitor arms in the future, and will recommend them to anyone that questions.

Theres not much incorrect with this thing. I got it for my husbands screen over his mixing board (he makes records, and the screen was very far away and too high over his board causing neck pain). It clipped right on, but, silly thing that I was didn’t check if his existing screen fit this arm. It didn’t. Oh well, had to buy another screen – he got an even larger one, but it was worth it for his comfort. He likes this thing. It articulates so well. He brings it forward when working in protools, and pushes it back for mixing on the board. It’s fantastic, and he appreciates it.

Fantastic Mount – Read the Installation Manual!!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have a 22″ monitor that weighs 5.4kgs and when I first installed this desk mount just using basic intuition (i.e. NOT reading the manual), I was very disappointed. My monitor just sagged down to the desk when the arm was extended even a few inches. I was all set to get my dander up when it occurred to me that maybe the installation required a bit more insight than I first thought.

A few minutes of really reading the installation manual (page 13 to be exact) and…VOILA!…a properly tensioned mount that holds the monitor in place even at full extension!! I would recommend this unit over more expensive ones as it looks excellent, is excellent quality, and works perfectly – once you read the manual and make the simple tension adjustments!

Ergotron gear is the best way to mount monitors
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I am a huge Ergotron fan. I’ve been using a number of their mounts and arms for 4 years and they are still going strong. Over the years, as Ergotron’s popularity has risen, the prices have come down in a huge way. This year I bought two of the LX mounts and they are as high quality as the older expensive mounts I bought in 2005.

I am using these mounts to hold some screens in portrait mode. I’m using the extension arm on one monitor and not on the other. The monitors have been held in place without any adjustments for 6+ months. It’s very simple to position the screen exactly where you want, once you have the tension set (which is simple–just turning a screw). I’ve needed no adjusting or tightening of the tension in that time.

The construction is fantastic–strong, durable, and metal. This is really excellent equipment and should last a long time. The kit includes all the screws and adapter brackets you’ll need for using with 75mm or 100mm VESA screens. I’ve used these stands with monitors from HP, ViewSonic, Gateway, Samsung–no issues at all.

In addition to the high quality, these brackets look excellent. From the front, you don’t see them–the monitor is just “floating”, which always intrigues an office visitor (“how are those monitors held up!?”). From the rear, the black mount is sharp and solid.

Highly recommended, especially at this price. There’s really no downside here. Note that if you want to mount a very large monitor, you might need the Ergotron MX (also on Amazon) instead of the Ergotron LX (this one).

Ergotron mount is everything it claims to be.
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The Ergotron LX Mount Arm is stylish and relatively simple to place together.

The hardware is complete with two mounting options. I opted for the center bolt mount, which requires drilling a 1/4″ hole for a carriage bolt. My only complaint is the carriage bolt is not fixed, so one has to hold it in place while bolting the mount onto whatever you are mounting it to. If I could have used the clamp mount I would have, it looks very simple to install.

The hardware kit comes with all you need, including an open-end and allen wrenches to tighten things.

The pivot points are adjustable for varying monitor weights. I found this feature very helpful because the monitors we used were on heavy side. After a few turns the arms operated smoothly and held the monitors in place, with no sagging.

Over all I would highly recommend the Ergotron LX.

It is simple to mount and adjust. The end is clean and the design thoughtful. I’d give em an A

I did a lot of research before settling on the Ergotron LX. I bought two, one for a 23″ Apple Cinema Show and one for a ViewSonic VP201b (20″). The arms handle the weight of each monitor wonderfully and they have a very attractive modern look.

The setup for each only took ~ 10 minutes. I thought it would take an hour when I first opened the box and saw the three thick manuals they included. The manuals were in multiple languages which clarifies the number of manuals. The installation guide was very simple to follow, sort of like the ancient “Choose Your Own Adventure” books. Each step presents you with a style A or B. I chose to just use the mounting bracket style instead of drilling through my desk, and setup was very simple.

I wish I had found these sooner. I like my desk again and the new space underneath the monitors makes room for all my gear. I no longer have neck pain since I can adjust these to the proper height.

I keep the tension key nearby but have not had to use it since installation. Excellent work, Ergotron.

    Expensive but worth the money
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a very sturdy mounting kit for my monitor. I have a 22 inch monitor and have had no problems with the arm “sinking” or losing tension. I have it set up on a small table to the side of my simple chair and I can go the screen to virtually any tilt to make it simple for gaming, surfing, working or occasionally spinning around to show someone something cool online. If I need to get up, it easily moves out of the way.

This arm was a excellent solution for me because I had neck distress and headaches trying to read my monitor when it was set up in a static position on my desktop. The screen used to be too far away to easily read without wearing glasses, and turning my head to the left constantly caused muscle problems in my neck and shoulders. This arm puts the screen front and center at any distance I want. I’m glad I spent the money on something that works so well for me.

+ rotates 90 degrees easily as needed

    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have this for close to a month and am loving it. It’s bought to support a 24″ LCD monitor and doing a fantastic job at it. I first try the clamp type mount at the edge of the desk, only to find its footing being readily shifted when I go the monitor about. The weight of the monitor may be the greatest contributor to the matter. I finished up using the drill-through-the-table mount_be careful and plot accordingly before drilling if you had an expensive desk to deal with. Also note that the center of the foot of the mount needs to face squarely to the position of the monitor. Otherwise, you would see it weighs heavily on the side the monitor is at. Only minor details one must pay attention to. Other than those, this mount looks and works fantastic on my desk. It’s quite awesome that the monitor can be completely went out of the way when needed.

Excellent Product, a few issues though
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I bought this back in December so I’ve been working with this product for about 4-5 months. Overall, I am satisfied with the product.

Some issues I’ve had with the product.

    1) be completely sure you have an area to mount this as there is not a lot of wiggle-room to its footprint. In other words, you need quite a bit of unobstructed desk space to mount this. if you leave an edge of the clamp off of the desk you can really see an adverse effect on the stability of the unit.

    2) Sometimes it feels like you have to wrestle with this thing to both go physical locations (from desk to desk, house to house etc) and positions on the desk. The movements it seems to take are unnatural to say the least. For example, moving the monitor to rest on one side of the post or the other requires a lot of room to full extend it etc. in other words, this item is NOT conducive to small areas as a lot of room is needed to position the unit

    3) the mechanism that holds the vertical height on the unit seems to deteriorate. I use this to run dual monitors with another monitor that is on a stand and this arm has distress holding a constant height. it droops after a while.

overall, I am satisfied with it.

  29. Robert says:

    Awesome.

This is a must have. It frees space in the desk and also allows you to go your monitor wherever you want, and in whatever orientation you want.

Aside: If your thought is to use this monitor arm to take advantage of the vertical orientation, then be sure to buy an LCD with IPS panel. Definitively do NOT buy an LCD with TN (twisted neumatic) panel as the vertical viewing angle is terrible (and then when you place the monitor in vertical position you have nearly none horizontal viewangle).

Because while we sitting in front the computer, we get tired, and we will alwasy change our pose on the chair. Every time we change the pose, we can change the pose of the moniter with the arm. Very nice thing, I like it very much.
